WATCH: South Sudanese rapper reps Melbourne in ‘Your City’

NYUON takes us on a tour of his hometown in a swaggy music video

As a lover of hip-hop and all things African, I was delighted to see that there’s a new MC who is representing South Sudan and Australia. NYUON’s first single ‘My City’ is an ode to Melbourne where he lives, and where he is gaining popularity as a rapper.

I spoke to the 20-year-old about living in refugee camps around East Africa as a child, and visiting South Sudan for the first time in 2012. What was most impressive? The artists speaks Nuer, English and Mandarin. Read all about it here and watch the music video below.
